Plan B? That’s the Wright Way to Say ‘I Do!’

When it comes to planning your wedding, you’ve likely dreamed of blue skies, sunshine, and the perfect outdoor setting. And as your go-to Hervey Bay celebrant, I’m all for a stunning beach or garden ceremony. But as we all know, Mother Nature sometimes has other ideas – and that’s where having a solid Plan B becomes not just smart, but essential!

Why You Need a Weather-Proof Wedding Plan

As a Fraser Coast area celebrant, I’ve officiated ceremonies in glorious sunshine, under the soft drizzle of rain, and once (true story!) with a backup plan that included fairy lights and gumboots – and it was still magical.

Even if the forecast looks clear, weather can change quickly – especially in our beautiful coastal and hinterland areas. Wind, rain, or extreme heat can all impact your day. A well-thought-out backup plan ensures that, come rain or shine, your ceremony will still be filled with love, laughter, and the celebration you’ve always dreamed of.

The Wright Tools for the Job

Speaking of planning ahead – my trusty PA (that’s public address system, not personal assistant, although she is equally reliable!) always comes dressed for the occasion. I’ve got a favourite photo of her protected by a heart-patterned umbrella, ready to go rain, hail, or shine.

And yes, that’s me in another snap, standing under a bright, cheerful umbrella in my gumboots, alongside a couple who weren’t about to let a little rain dampen their love story. We embraced the elements, shared some laughs, and created a moment none of us will ever forget.

Top Tips for Your Plan B

As your local Maryborough celebrant, I always encourage couples to consider the following when planning a backup:

• Venue Flexibility: Can your outdoor venue quickly pivot to a sheltered space or indoor area?

• Communication: Make sure guests (and vendors) know what the Plan B looks like.

• Weather-Proof Gear: Umbrellas, shade structures, towels (yes, towels!) and, if you’re like me – fabulous gumboots!

  Mindset: Sometimes Plan B turns out to be even more memorable than Plan A. Be open to the joy in unexpected moments.
